PRAYER 3
Where do you go when you are faced with a crisis? If you were in
danger you would probably call 911. In that call you have
confidence that there is a trained person coming to your aid. We
trust police, firemen, medical professionals, etc. We know who to
call when we’re in trouble. Too often we do depend on
humans and organizations to get us to safe ground. Why has prayer
taken a back seat to these situations. I’m not suggesting
that we shouldn’t call 911, but calling on God first and in
conjunction to these other helps seems logical as He is already
there. He IS Jehovah-Shammah. He has the answer and the
ability to help and protect. “We need a new spiritual
reflex that causes us to pray each time we face trouble.”
Don’t be afraid of the available helps in our society, but
don’t trust them ahead of our God. He is and should be the
first line of defense and help in our time of need.

PRAYER 2
I don’t think there are many of us who believe that God needs us
to accomplish His mission. He doesn’t need you and He
doesn’t need me. He chooses to allow us to participate in
His mission. There are many Biblical references and historical
ones that communicate that God will use us to answer our own prayer and
He typically uses people to answer the prayers of others. Prayer
is believing in the ability of the Most High God to do absolutely
anything. “We have not yet begun to experience the infinite
power and possibility that becomes available when we call on the name
of the Lord in prayer.” Not only do we need to raise our
standards in terms of what we ask, but we need to be ready and willing
to be a part of the solution. Obedience is another key component
to answered prayer. Be ready to move and to act as the Holy
Spirit dictates.

BREAKTHROUGH
PRAYER 1
One Old Testament theme that perhaps is missing in the New Testament
Church is the idea of God’s blessing. “If
anything is
going to change, if the church is ever going to reach its potential,
one critical ingredient is absolutely required. We cannot
live
one more day without breaking through to the blessing of
God.” God blesses the person and/or church that
sells out
to prayer. Breaking through to God requires intensity and
endurance. We must determine that His blessings are more
important than anything else we may think we need. I am
determined to experience the blessings of God. It is when I
am
full of Him that I can be a blessing to others. Blessing
others
comes easily when we do so out of the overflow of our hearts.
This should be one of the great assets of the church. We have
opportunities to be edified and we have the privilege of encouraging
and blessing others. Let’s be a church of blessed
people
who go out of their way to be a blessing!
